Built in 1982, by Balehi Marine Incorporated of Lacombe, Louisiana (hull #44) as the David Neville for the Ra-Bo Company Incorporated of Harvey, Louisiana.

In 1987, the tug was acquired by Dixie Marine Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Dixie Trader.

In 1998, she was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2012, the tug was acquired by D and S Marine Services of Houma, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Lincoln L.

In 2016, D and S Marine Services renamed the tug as the R.J. Cheramie.

Powered by two, Cummins K38 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 7:1. She is a twin screw, towboat, rated at 2,800 horsepower.
