Built in 1982, by Balehi Marine Incorporated of Lacombe, Louisiana (hull #46) as the Nonnie.

In 1988, the tug was sold, where she was renamed as the Ginger C.

In 1991, she was acquired by Dixie Marine Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the Neches.

In 1998, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she retained her name.

Powered by two, Cummins KTA19-M3 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 5.03:1. She is a twin screw towboat, with kort nozzles rated at 1,200 horsepower.
