Built in 1966, by the Hillman Barge and Construction Company of Brownsville, Pennsylvania (hull #526) as the Beverly Thomas for the Thomas Petroleum Transit Company of Butler, Pennsylvania.

In 1976, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she was renamed as the City of Port Allen.

In 2004, she was acquired by the Ingram Barge Company of Nashville, Tennessee. Where the tug retained her name.

Powered by two, Caterpillar 3508 diesel engines. She is a twin screw, square bow, push boat. Rated at 1,550 horsepower.
