S/R BEAUMONT

Built in 1967, by Jeffboat Incorporated of Jeffersonville, Indiana (hull #2000) as the Mobil Leader for the Mobil Oil Corporation of New York, New York.

In 1992, the Mobil Oil Corporation renamed the tug as the Cheyenne.

In 1999, the Exxon Oil Company merged with the Mobil Oil Corporation to form the ExxonMobil Corporation of Irving, Texas. The SeaRiver Maritime Company continued to operate as a subsidy of the ExxonMobil Corporation. Where the tug was renamed as the S/R Beaumont.

In 2003, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she was renamed as the City of Beaumont.

In 2005, she was acquired by Jantan Incorporated of Rosedale, Mississippi. Where the tug was renamed as the Leland Speakes.

Powered by two, GM 16-645E5 diesel engines. With Falk reduction gears. She is a twin screw, towboat, with kort nozzles, for a rated 5,000 horsepower.
