Built in 1980, by Marico Marine Industries Company of Belle River, Louisiana (hull #98).

In 1997, the tug was acquired by Tarmac America Incorporated of Norfolk, Virginia. Where she was renamed as the Tidewater Star.

In 2005, the tug was acquired by the Chesapeake Marine Partnership of Norfolk, Virginia. Where the tug was renamed as the William E. Poole.

The Chesapeake Marine Partnership is a subsidy of the Vulcan Materials Company Incorporated of Birmingham, Alabama.

She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,800 horsepower.
