Built in 2009, by CTCO Shipyard of Alabama Incorporated of Demopolis, Alabama (hull #502) as the Bonnie Cenac for the Cenac Towing Company Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana.

In 2017, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she was renamed Mallard.

Powered by two, Cummins QSK 19 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 5:1. Turning two, stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,320 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 40kW, generator sets. The tug's capacities are 8,800 gallons of fuel, 165 gallons of lube oil, and 3,150 gallons of water.
