Built in 1980, by Superior Boat Works Incorporated of Greenville, Mississippi (hull #143) as the Don L. for Lalande Towing Incorporated New Iberia, Louisiana.

In 1981, the tug was acquired by the Brent Towing Company of Greenville, Mississippi. Where she was renamed as the Uncle Jesse.

In 1984, she was acquired by the Gunter Boat Rentals Company of Oak Grove, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Merry Gunter.

In 1985, the tug was acquired by the Brent Towing Company of Greenville, Mississippi. Where she was renamed as the Wendy Brent.

In 1990, she was acquired by Dixie Marine Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the Lampasas.

In 1998, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she retained her name.

Powered by two, GM 12V-71 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 4.5:1. She is a twin screw, towboat, rated at 900 horsepower.
