Built in 1973, by McDermott Shipyard of Morgan City, Louisiana (hull #178) as the Cape Henlopen for the Curtis Bay Towing Company of Baltimore, Maryland. An affiliate of the Moran Towing Corporation of New York, New York.

In 1988, the Curtis Bay Towing Company was absorbed into the Moran Towing Corporation. Where the tug retained her name.

Powered by two twelve cylinder, EMD 12-645-E2 diesel engines. Turning two bronze, fixed pitch, propellers. She is a twin screw tug, rated 3,000 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two 75kW generator sets. The tug's capacites are 44,909 gallons of fuel.
