Built in 1953, Pelican Iron Works of Houma, Louisiana as the Capt. Sonny I

In 1997, the tug was acquired by the Coastal Towing Company of Galliano, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Leslie Ann.

In 2000, she was acquired by Mohawk Northeast Incorporated of Plantsville, Connecticut. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2008, Mohawk Northeast Incorporated acquired the Whaling City Dredge and Dock Company of Groton, Connecticut.

Powered by two Cummins QSM 11 diesel engines. With Tonanco 828 reduction gears, at a ratio of 3.5:1. Turning two, fixed pitch, stainless steel, propellers. For a rated 700 horsepower.

The tug's electrical service is provided by one 20kW Norpro generator set. Her capacities are 6,500 gallons of fuel, 75 gallons of lube oil, 35 gallons of hydraulic oil, and 200 gallons of water.

Her towing equipment consists of two 20 ton, mechanical, deck winches. Outfitted with 100(ft) of 3/4(in) wire.
