Built in 1968, by the Matton Shipyard Company of Cohoes, New York (hull #332) as the Bart J. Turecamo for the Turecamo Coastal and Harbor Towing Corporation of New York, New York.

The tug was designed by Turecamo Coastal and Harbor Towing Corporation's Naval Architect, Merritt Demarest.

In 1998, the Turecamo Coastal and Harbor Towing Corporation was acquired by The Moran Towing Corporation of New Canaan, Connecticut. Where the tug retained her name.

Originally powered by two Fairbanks-Morse diesel engines. The tug was later repowered with two, twelve cylinder, EMD 12-645-E2 diesel engines. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 2,880 horsepower.
