VALENTINE MORAN

Built in 1977, by Bollinger Shipyard of Lockport, Louisiana (hull #108) as the J.A. Belcher Sr. for the Belcher Towing Company of Miami, Florida.

In 1990, the Belcher Towing Company was acquired by the Coastal Tug and Barge Company of Miami, Florida. Where she was renamed as the Coastal Jacksonville.

In 1996, she was acquired by the Moran Towing Corporation of New Canaan, Connecticut. Where she was renamed as the Valentine Moran.

Powered by two, twelve cylinder, ALCO 251C 12 MS&MR diesel engines. Turning two, cast steel, fixed pitch propellers. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 3,520 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 75kW generator sets. The tug's capacities are 76,609 gallons of fuel.

In 2012, the tug was refitted for ship assist work, the modifications included the removal of her upper wheelhouse and her towing winch and she was outfitted with a JonRie Series 424 Capstan on her stern. The work was performed at Colanna's Shipard in Norfolk, Virginia.
