NITINAT CHIEF

Built in 1941, at Vancouver, British Columbia as the Nintinat Chief for the Nitinat Lake Logging Company of Port Renfrew, British Columbia.

In 1960, the tug was acquired by Island Tug and Barge Limited of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. A subsidy of McAllister Towing Limited Montreal of Montreal, Canada. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1969, Island Tug and Barge Limited was acquired by Genstar Limited of Vancouver, British Columbia. Where the tug initially retained her name.

In 1972, the tug was acquired by Menzies Bay Marine Services Limited of Victoria, British Columbia. Where she retained her name.

In 1985, she was acquired by Nitinat Towing Limited of Salt Spring Island, British Columbia. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1988, the tug was acquired by Shearwater Marine of Bella Bella, British Columbia. Where she retained her name.

In 1995, she was rebuilt from the deck with an Aluminum deck house at Bella Bella, British Columbia.

In 2011, she was acquired by Nitinat Towing Limited of Salt Spring Island, British Columbia.

In 2016, the tug went out of commercial documentation. And, she was was converted to a yacht.

Originally powered by a single, four cylinder Washington diesel engine. She was a single screw tug, rated at 160 horsepower.
