Built in 1986, St. John's Shipbuilding Incorporated of Palatka, Florida (hull #37) as the Brooks K. McAllister for the McAllister Brothers Towing Company of New York, New York.
She was the first tractor tug built for the McAllister Brothers Towing Company. And, the first tractor tug to enter service for the company.
In 1999, the McAllister Towing and Transportation Company renamed the tug as the Brooklyn McAllister.
Powered by two, Tier I compliant, EMD 16-645-CE2, diesel engines. Driving two, Schottel SRP 1212 z-drives for a rated 4,000 horsepower.
The tug is fitted with a Goulds 6-71 TI fire pump. Capable of producing 3,000 Gallons Per Minute, feeding two deck mounted fire monitors.
Her towing gear consists of a JonRie InterTech 200 winch mounted on her bow. Outfitted with 450(ft) of 7(in) neutron rope. And, her hull is also outfitted with submarine fendering.
