Built in 1981, by J.W.P. Creppel Incorporated of Crown Point, Louisiana (hull #1) as the D.W. Creppel for the D.W. Creppel Towboat Company of Crown Point, Louisiana.

In 2006, the tug was acquired by D.R.D.C. Incorporated of Marrero, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Kate L.

In 2008, she was acquired by the Crosby Marine Transportation Company of Golden Meadow, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Hud Joseph.

Powered by two, GM 12V-71 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 6:1. Turning two, stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,200 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 30kW generator sets. Her capacities are 12,000 gallons of fuel, and 4,000 gallons of potable water.
