Built in 1962, by McDermott Fabricators Incorporated of Morgan City, Louisiana as the E.K. Rockwell for the American Towing Company of Morgan City, Louisiana.

In 1970, the American Towing Company renamed the tug as the American Chief.

In 1974, she was acquired by the Inlet Marine Company of Anchorage, Alaska. Where she was renamed as the Gemini.

In 1979, the tug was acquired by the Foss Maritime Company of Tacoma, Washington. Where she was renamed as the Mary Foss.

In 1987, she was acquired by the Silver Bay Logging Company of Kelso, Washington. Where she was renamed as the Silver Bay I.

In 2000, the Silver Bay Logging Company went out of business. Although her documentation is active, her current, and, or final disposition is unknown. She was a twin screw tug, rated at 800 horsepower.
