Built in 1967, by the Bollinger Machine Shop Incorporated of Lockport, Louisiana (hull #60) as the Elfer Guidry for the Guidry Brothers Company of Galliano, Louisiana.

In 1993, she was acquired by Lockport Tugs Incorporated of Lockport, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Gwen Anne.

In 1994, the tug was acquired by the Allied Transportation Company of Norfolk, Virginia. Where she was renamed as the Sea Tern.

In 2001, she was acquired by the Vane Brothers Company of Baltimore, Maryland. Where the tug was renamed as the Patriot.

Named as a tribute to those who perished, as well as the soldiers who were called to duty in the wake of the tragedies of September 11th, 2001.

In 2009, the tug was acquired by Porteadores Del Noroeste of Porteadores, Mexico. Where she was renamed as the Ponosa VIII.

Powered by three, Caterpillar diesel engines. She was a triple screw tug, rated at 3,000 horsepower.
