Built in 1971, by Houma Welders of DeHoop, Louisiana (hull #24) as the Ferdie Candies for Otto Candies, LLC. of Des Allemands, Louisiana.

The tug was later acquired by Houston Marine Services of Houston, Texas where she was renamed as the HMS Eagle.

She was eventually acquired by Tanner Fuel Services of Eunice, Louisiana where she was renamed as the DV Tanner.

The tug is a twin screw, square bow, push boat. Powered by two Detroit Diesel engines, for a rated 800 horsepower.
