Built in 1973, by the Marinette Marine Corporation of Marientte, Wisconsin (hull #YTB 829) as the Metacom (YTB 829) for the United States Navy.

Her keel was laid down on the 13th of November 1973, and the tug was launched on the 19th of June, 1974. She was delivered on the 21st of September, 1974 where she was allocated to the Naval Submarine Base at New London, Connecticut.

It is unknown when the tug was placed out of service. She was struck from the Naval Register on the 5th of January 2001, at which time she was transferred to the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers where she was renamed as the Demolen .

She is a single screw tug rated at 2,000 horsepower.
