Built in 1954, by Roamer Boat Works Incorporated of Holland, Michigan (hull #22) as the ST-2168 for the United States Army.

In 1962, the tug was transferred to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers where she was renamed as the Thunder Bay.

In 2002, she was acquired by Basic Marine Incorporated of Escanaba, Michigan. Where the tug was renamed as the Krystal.

She is a single screw tug, rated at 310 horsepower.
