SIDNEY CANDIES (1994)

Built in 1994, by Halter Marine Incorporated of Lockport, Louisiana (hull #1383) as the Sidney Candies for the Otto Candies Company of Des Allemands, Louisiana.

In 1998, the tug was acquired by Gulfcoast Transit Company of Tampa, Florida. A subsidiary of the Tampa Electric Company of Tampa, Florida. Where the tug was renamed as the Naida Ramil. Where she was "married" to the dry cargo barge the Peggy Palmer.

In 2002, the Gulfcoast Transit Company became the TECO Ocean Shipping Company of Tampa, Florida. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2005, the tug was outfitted with a bludworth coupler system, and was "married" to her barge the Peggy Palmer.

In 2007, the TECO Transport Corporation was acquired Greenstreet Equity Partners L.P., a Miami-based private equity firm. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2010, she was phase out of active service and was "laid up" at Tampa, Florida.

In 2018, the tug was acquired by the Vanenkevort Tug and Barge Company, where the tug was rebuilt at Gulf Marine Repair in Tampa, Florida where the tug was rebuilt. Including conversion of the old lower pilothouse for accommodation spaces, as well as increasing the height of eye of the r wheelhouse. Additionally her towing winch was removed the towing winch and supply handling cranes were installed on the tug.

In 2019, the tug reentered service for the Vanenkevort Tug and Barge Company as the Laura L. Vanenkevort. And, the tug was "married" to the 610(ft), by 72(ft), by 38(ft), self unloading dry cargo barge the Joseph H. Thompson.

Powered by two, EMD 16-645 E5C diesel engines, she is a twin screw tug, rated at 7,200 horsepower.
