Built in 1971, by Main Iron Works Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #254) as the Ajax for the Sabine Transportation Company of Port Arthur, Texas.

In 1967, the founders of Sabine Transportation Company merged with the with the Chromalloy American Corporation of St. Louis, Missouri. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1980, the Chromalloy American Corporation was acquired by the Sequa Corporation of New York. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1992, the former assets of the Sabine Transportation Company where acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2021, the tug was acquired by IntraTug (the Intracoastal Tug and Barge Company) of Maurice, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Intra Recoil.

Powered by two, Caterpillar 3508 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 5.17:1. She is a twin screw, square bow, push boat rated at 1,700 horsepower.
