Built in 1973 by N.E. Insley Incorporated at Crisfield, Maryland (hull #118) as the Sunshine State for the Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company of Oak Brook, Illinois.

In 2007, the tug was acquired by Mobro Marine Incorporated of Jacksonville, Florida. Where she retained her name.

In 2014, the tug was placed in "laid-up" status. She is not currently documented. Her current and/or final fate is unknown.
