EL HIPPO GRANDE

Built in 1982, by Rodriguez Boat Builders Incorporated of Coden, Alabama (hull #38) as the El Hippo Grande for Tidewater Marine Services Incorporated of New Orleans, Louisiana.

In 1999, the tug was acquired by Atlantic Gulf Towing Incorporated of Norfolk, Virginia. A division of the Norfolk Dredging Company of Norfolk, Virginia. Where she was renamed as the Elizabeth Ann.

Powered by two, twelve Cylinder, EMD 12-567 CE2 diesel engines. With Reintjes WAV 1850 reduction gears, at a ratio of 5:1. Turning two, 100(in) by 100(in), four bladed, stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers, mounted in kort nozzles. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 3,000 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 75kW, Delco generator sets. Driven by two, GM 675 diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 103,800 gallons of fuel, 1,860 of lube oil, and 8,846 gallons of water.

The towing equipment consists of a double drum, Smatco towing winch. Outfitted with 2,000(ft) of 2(in) towing wire on the primary drum, and 2,000(ft) of 2(in) towing wire on the secondary drum.
