Built in 1965, by Houma Welders Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #3) as the Earl Brown for the Wayne Businelle Towing Company of Franklin, Louisiana.

In 1995, the tug was acquired by the Halliburton Company of Houston, Texas. Where she retained her name.

In 2001, she was acquired by the Wayne Businelle Towing Company of Franklin, Louisiana. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2017, she was acquired by Dames Point Workboats of Jacksonville, Florida. Where the tug was renamed as the Dames Pointer V.
