Built in 1978, by Balehi Marine Incorporated of Lacombe, Louisiana (hull #13) as the Sidney Bourg for the RLB Boat Company Incorporated of Harvey, Louisiana.

In 1988, the tug was acquired by Lodestar Towing Incorporated of Cut Off, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Compass Cove.

In 1989, she was acquired by the Western Towing Company of Houston, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the Palomino.

In 2004, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she retained her name.

In 2018, the tug was acquired by the Ohio Salvage Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Where the tug retained her name.

Repowered in 2001, she is driven by two Volvo TAMD-122A diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 6:1. The tug is a twin screw, towboat, rated at 800 horsepower.
