Built in 1982, by Modern Marine Power Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #45) as the Gulf Coast for the Dann Marine Towing Company of Chesapeake City, Maryland.

Powered by two, Caterpillar 3512 diesel engines. With Caterpillar 7241 reduction gears, at a ratio of 7.0:1. Turning two, 79(in) diameter, by 80(in), fixed pitch, propellers. For a rated 2,400 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 55kW Caterpillar 3304 generator sets. The tug's capacities are 81,385 gallons of fuel oil, 1,177 gallons of lube oil, 1,147 gallons of waste oil, and 5,268 gallons of water.

The tug's towing gear consists of an INTERcon, DD200, double drum, towing winch. Outfitted with 2000(ft) of 2(in) diameter cable on one drum, as well as 305(ft) of 1.5(in) wire, on the second drum.

In 2016, the tug was outfitted with an upper wheelhouse at Fenney's Enterprises in Kingston, New York.
