Built in 1971, by Albina Engine and Machine Works Incorporated of Portland, Oregon as the Mapu (hull #426) for the Hawaiian Tug and Barge Company of Honolulu, Hawaii. A division of the Dillingham Corporation of Honolulu, Hawaii.

In 1977, the company's corporate name was changed to the Dillingham Tug and Barge Corporation of Honolulu, Hawaii. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1986, the Dillingham Corporation shed its maritime assets in favor of real estate investment, with Dillingham Tug and Barge and Young Brothers being acquired by Hawaiian Electric Industries Incorporated (HEI) of Honolulu, Hawaii. At this time, Dillingham Tug and Barge's corporate name was reverted back to Hawaiian Tug and Barge. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1997, the tug was acquired by the Foss Maritime Company of Seattle, Washington. Where she was renamed as the Kelly Foss.

In 2002, the vessel was transferred to the Foss Maritime Company subsidiary. Gulf Caribe Maritime Incorporated of Mobile, Alabama. Where she was renamed as the Caribe.

She was then acquired by Blackledge Diving Incorporated of Long Beach, California. Where the tug retained her name.

The tug was later acquired by Caribe Towing and Shipping Company of Long Beach, California. Where she retained her name.

The tug is no longer in documentation, her current and, or final disposition is unknown. She was a twin screw tug, rated at 750 horsepower.
