Built in 1975, by Master Marine Incorporated of Bayou LaBatre, Alabama (hull #173) as the Margaret A. Eymard for the Eymard Towing Company of Marrero, Louisiana.
The tug was then sold, where she was renamed as the Ronnie G.
She was later acquired by Tweed Towing Incorporated of Richmond, California. Where the tug was renamed as the Pacific Rose.
In 1991, Tweed Towing Incorporated was acquired by the Brix Maritime Company of Seattle, Washington. Where the tug retained her name.
In 1993, the Brix Maritime Company was acquired by Foss Maritime of Seattle, Washington. Where the tug was renamed as the Anna Foss.
In 2006, the tug was transferred to AmNAV Maritime Services of Oakland, California. A subsidiary of the Foss Maritime Company of Seattle, Washington. Where she was renamed as the Eventide.
In 2011, she was acquired by Lind Marine Incorporated of Petaluma, California. Where the tug was renamed as the Denise Lind.
In 2016, the tug was acquired by Pacific Tugboat Service Incorporated of San Diego, California. Where she was renamed as the Chief.
On August 14th, 2016, she caught fire while moored at the pier. The tug was salvaged, and repaired. The Pacific Tugboat Service then renamed the tug as the S. Bass.
She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 2,200 horsepower.
