Built in 1982, by the Albert Ortis Boat Building Company of Krotz Springs, Louisiana (hull #48) as the Morgan 5 for the Morgan Marine Service Incorporated of Des Allemands, Louisiana.

In 1988, the tug was acquired by South Texas Towing Incorporated of Port Lavaca, Texas. Where she retained her name.

In 1992, she was acquired by Dixie Marine Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the Sabinal.

In 1998, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she retained her name.

Powered by two, Volvo D25 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 7:1. She is a twin screw, towboat, rated at 1,200 horsepower.
