Built in 1984, Eastern Marine Incorporated of Panama City, Florida (hull #78) as the Tomahawk for the Florida Barge Lines Incorporated of New Orleans, Louisiana.
In 2002, the tug was acquired by the Moran Towing Corporation of New Canaan, Connecticut. Where the she was renamed as the Lorette Moran.
In 2006, she was rebuilt at Colonnas Shipyard of Norfolk Virgina. Her tanks, and plumbing were renewed. The tug was re powered with two, Tier I Compliant, Cummins KTA 38 IMO diesel engines. The tug's Twin Disk 540 reduction gears were rebuilt. As well as, new generation, five bladed, stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers were installed. With "drip less" shaft packing added to new propeller shafts. And, the tug was also outfitted with new electric, bow winches.
In 2009, the tug was acquired by the Norfolk Tug Company of Norfolk, Virginia. Where she was renamed as the Lorette.
Powered by two, Cummins KTA-38M diesel engines. With Twin Disk MG540 reduction gears, at a ratio of 6.18:1. Turning two, 72(in) by 58.5(in), five bladed, Nibral, fixed pitch, propellers. She is a twin screw, square bow, pus boat, rated at 1,700 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 65kW, John Deere generator sets. The tug's capacities are 18,565 gallons of fuel, 385 gallons of lube oil, and 3,500 gallons of water.
The towing equipment consists of two, 40 ton, Patterson, electric, deck winches.
