Built in 1974, by Halter Marine Services Incorporated of Lockport, Louisiana (hull #476) as the Prevailer for the Energy Transportation Corporation of New York, New York.

In 1979, the tug was sold. Where she was renamed as the Long Beach.

In 1994, she was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug was reamed as the City of Natchez.

In 2018, the tug was acquired by Yager Materials Incorporated of Owensboro, Kentucky. Where she was renamed as the Betty R. Yager.

Powered by two, GM 12-645E2 diesel engines. She is a twin screw, towboat, rated at 3,000 horsepower.
