Built in 1905, by the Puget Sound Engineering Works of Seattle, Washington as the Lt. George M. Harris for the United States Army.

In 1923, the tug was acquired by the Foss Tug and Launch Company of Tacoma, Washington. Where she was renamed as the Andrew Foss.

On August 4th, 1951 she sank following a collision in heavy weather, 135 miles south of Ketchikan, Alaska.
