Built in 1982, by Offshore Shipbuilding Incorporated of Palatka, Florida (hull #9) as the Capt. Steve Hebert for Gulf International Marine Incorporated of New Orleans, Louisiana.

In 1987, the tug was acquired by G and B Marine Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Jennifer L. Boudreaux.

In 1999, she was acquired by Double Eagle Marine Incorporated of New Ibera, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Arapaho Eagle.

In 2001, the was acquired by Delta Towing Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Delta Force.

In 2011, she was acquired by the Crosby Marine Transportation Company of Golden Meadow, Louisiana. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2015, the tug was acquired by the Host Terminals Company of Norfolk, Virginia. Where she was renamed as the Ms. Janet. And, was outfitted with an upper wheelhouse.

In 2020, she was acquired by the Seaward Marine Corporation of Norfolk, Virginia. Where the tug was renamed as the Michelle.

In 2021, the Seaward Marine Corporation renamed the tug as the Katan.

Powered by two, Detroit Diesel 16 V 149 T.I.B. diesel engines. With Falk 145 MV-405 reduction gears, at a ratio of 5.9:1. Turning two, 72(in) by 77(in), fixed pitch propellers, mounted in kort nozzles. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 4,200 horsepower.

The tug's electrical service is provided by two, 50kW Kato generator sets. Driven by two, GM 4-71 diesel engines. Her capacities are 43,000 gallons of fuel, 7,000 gallons of water, and 990 gallons of lube oil.

Her towing gear consists of an INTERcon, "waterfall," DW-150 towing winch. Outfitted with 2,000(ft) of 1.75(in) towing wire on one drum. And, 100(ft) of 1(in) towing wire on the secondary drum.
