Built in 1977, by Modern Marine Power Incorporated of Houma Louisiana (hull #19) as the Morania No. 20 for the Morania Oil Tanker Corporation of Staten Island, New York.
In 1988, the tug was chartered to the Mobil Oil Corporation of New York, New York. Where she was renamed as the Mobil 5.
In 1992, the Mobil Oil Corporation renamed the tug as the Tamarac.
In 1994, the tug was returned to the Morania Oil Tanker Corporation of Staten Island, New York. Where she was renamed the Morania No. 1.
In 1997, the tug was acquired by the Reinauer Transportation Companies of Staten Island, New York. Where she was renamed as the Austin Reinauer.
In 2003, she was outfitted with an INTERcon "C" series coupler system and the tug's towing winch was removed. And the tug was outfitted with a single JonRie Intertech capstan.
In 2020, she was phased out of active service and was "laid up" at Reinauer Transportation's yard at Port Richmond in Staten Island, New York.
Powered by two, sixteen cylinder, EMD 16-645-E6 diesel engines. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 3,900 horsepower.
