Built in 1979, by Modern Marine Power Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #26) as the Little Dan for T and C Towing Incorporated of Norfolk, Virginia.
In 2008, T and C Towing Incorporated renamed the tug as the Chief.
In 2015, the tug was acquired by Dann Marine Towing of Chesapeake City, Maryland. Where the tug was renamed as the Diamond Coast.
In 2022, her upper wheelhouse was raised.
Powered by two, sixteen cylinder GM B-16 149 diesel engines. With Twin Disc 540 reduction gears, at a ratio of 7:1. Turning two, 84(in) by 66(in), fixed pitch, stainless steel, propellers. She is twin screw tug rated at 1,800 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 60kW Delco generator sets. Driven by two, GM 671 diesel engines. The tug's capacites are 60,000 gallons of fuel, 1,100 gallons of lube oil, 400 gallons of gear oil, 400 gallons of waste oil, and 3,000 gallons of potable water.
The towing gear consists of an Almon Johnson E-350, single drum, towing winch. Outfitted with 1,500(ft) of 1.5(in) towing wire. With 20 ton manual winches, outfitted 100(ft) of 1.8(in) wire.
