Built in 1980, by Matton Shipyard of Cohes, New York (hull #344) as the Joan Turecamo for Turecamo Maritime of New York, New York.
In 1998, Turecamo Maritime was acquired by the Moran Towing Corporation where the tug retained her name.
Powered by two GM Electro-Motive Division 16-645-E6 diesel engines, with Falk 2435 reverse/reduction gears, turning two Coolidge three bladed stainless steel propellers. She is a twin screw tug rated at 4,300 horsepower.
She has a fuel capacity of 57,300 gallons. The tug's towing gear consists of an Almon Johnson 229 towing winch, and a New England Trawler X1524 electro hydraulic capstan.
