Built in 2008, by Washburn and Doughty Associates of East Boothbay, Maine (hull #93) as the Laura K. Moran for the Moran Towing Corporation of New Canaan, Connecticut.
Named for Laura J. Keyes, the Moran Towing Corporation's President Peter Keyes's late wife. She was the fourteenth tractor tug built for the Moran Towing Corporation by Washburn and Doughty. And, the twenty-third tractor tug placed in service to the Moran Towing Corporation.
Powered by two, sixteen cylinder, Detroit Diesel MTU T1627M23 diesel engines. With LUFKIN MV1600S reduction gears, at a ratio of 2:1. Turning two, Schottel "z drives." For a rated 5,100 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 99kW, John Deere generator sets. The tug's capacities are 29,587 gallons of fuel, 2,166 gallons of lube oil, 2,324 gallons of fresh water, and 14,001 gallons of ballast.
The tug's firefighting capabilities consist of a Caterpillar FIFI diesel engine, feeding a 3,000 Gallon Per Minute monitor.
