Built in 1975, by Putnam Shipbuilding of Palatka, Florida (hull #21) as the Lauren S. Coppedge for Wayland T. Coppedge Jr. of the White Stack Towing Company of Jacksonville, Florida.
However, the the White Stack Towing Company later renamed the tug as the Helen D. Coppedge.
In 1978, the White Stack Towing Company was acquired by the Turecamo Coastal and Harbor Towing Corporation of New York, New York. Where the tug retained her name.
In 1998, the Turecamo Coastal and Harbor Towing Corporation was acquired by the the Moran Towing Corporation of New Canaan, Connecticut. Where the tug retained her name.
In 2016, she was acquired by the New York State Marine Highway Transportation Company of Troy, New York. Where the tug was renamed as the Sarah D.
She is twin screw tug, rated at 2,000 horsepower.
