Built in 2016, by Washburn and Doughty Associates of East Boothbay, Maine (hull #118) as the Maxwell Paul Moran for the Moran Towing Corporation of New Canaan, Connecticut.
Designed "in house" by Washburn and Doughty. The tug is based upon the yard's previous 92(ft) by 32(ft) designs. The increased length and beam of the design allowed for increased horsepower. While maintaining the maneuvering characteristics and handling capabilities.
She was the thirty-third tractor tug built for the Moran Towing Corporation by Washburn and Doughty. And, the forty-fifth tractor tug placed in service to the Moran Towing Corporation.
Powered by two, Tier III compliant, medium speed, two cycle, EMD ME12G7C-T3 diesel engines. With Schottel SRP 1515 FP "z-drives." The drives are fitted with 2,600(mm ) stainless steel propellers. For a rated 6,000 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided two, Tier III compliant, 99kw/120/208 VAC, three-phase John Deere 6068TFM76 generators. The tug's capacities are 40,000 gallons of fuel oil, with 3,300 gallons for fuel overflow. 1,000 gallons of lube oil, 175 gallons of gear oil, 175 gallons of hydraulic oil, 105 gallons for coolant holding, 2,200 gallons of grey water and or treated sewage, 4,000 gallons of potable water, 15,000 gallons of ballast water, and 1,000 gallons of dirty oil.
The towing gear consists of a Markey DEPC 48 electric hawser winch, mounted on the bow. And, a Markey CEWC 60 electric hawser capstan aft.
