Built in 1949, by Alexander Shipyard of New Orleans, Louisiana (hull #443) as the S.M. Dean for the Ogelbay Norton Company of Cleveland, Ohio

In 1969, the tug was acquired by the McAllister Brothers Towing Company of New York, New York. Where she was renamed as the David McAllister.

In 1970, the tug went on charter. Where she was renamed as the Maryann.

In 1977, she came off charter. And, was returned to the McAllister Brothers Towing Company of New York, New York. Where she was renamed as the Gregg McAllister.

In 2004, the tug went out of documentation. Her current and or final disposition is unknown. She was a twin screw tug rated at 1,600 horsepower.
