Built in 1975, by Jakobson Shipyard Incorporated of Oyster Bay, New York (hull #454) as the Resolute for the Providence Steamboat Company of Providence, Rhode Island.
In 2006, the Providence Steamboat Company was acquired by McAllister Towing and Transportation of New York, New York. Where the tug retained her name.
In 2017, she was "laid up" at McAllister Towing and Transportation's yard at Fall River, Massachusetts.
The tug is powered by two, EMD 12-645 E6 diesel engines. With Falk reduction gears, at ratio of 4.08:1. Turning two, 104(in) by 81(in), stainless steel, fixed pitch, propellers. For a rated 3,000 horsepower.
Her capacities are 30,000 gallons of fuel oil, 500 gallons of lube oil and 2,200 gallons of potable water.
