ELLEN F. McALLISTER (1971)

Built in 1971, by Main Iron Works of Houma, Louisiana (hull #256) as the Ellen F. for the McAllister Brothers Towing Company of New York, New York.

In 1971, the tug was leased to the New England Petroleum Company Jacksonville, Florida. Where she was named as the Eileen C.

New England Petroleum specialized in supplying petroleum products to East Coast electrical utilities, but also had interests in shipping as well as in oil exploration and production in North Africa, the Persian Gulf and the North Sea. However in 1984, the company filed for bankruptcy.

In 1977, she was returned to the McAllister Brothers Towing Company of New York, New York. Where she was renamed as the Ellen F. McAllister.

In 1978, the tug was reflagged under a Liberian flag. She was assigned to a military contract in Diego Garcia. And in 1983, the tug sank in the Indian Ocean while being towed back to the United States. She was a twin screw tug, rated at 4,200 horsepower.
