Built in 1975, by the Berg Shipbuilding Company of Blaine, Washington (hull #159) as the Alaska Mariner for the Western Towboat Company of Seattle, Washington.

In 1985, the tug was later acquired by the Cook Inlet Tug and Barge Company of Anchorage, Alaska. A division of the Anderson Tug and Barge Company of Anchorage, Alaska. Where she was renamed as the Jack Sr.

In 1992, she was acquired by Northland Services Incorporated of Seattle, Washington. Where the tug was renamed as the Polar Wind.

In 2005, the tug was acquired by undisclosed interests in Venezuela, where it went to Lake Maracibo, most likely to work in the Venezuelan Government-nationalized oil industry.

However, she is no longer listed in documentation. Her current, and or final disposition is unknown.

Originally powered by two, Caterpillar 343 diesel engines, rated at 765 horsepower. The Western Towboat Company re powered her with two, Caterpillar 3412 diesel engines. For a rated 1,200 horsepower.

In 1985, the Cook Inlet Tug and Barge Company outfitted the tug with kort nozzles.
