Built in 1969, by Halter Marine Services of New Orleans, Louisiana (hull #226) as the T.J. Sheridan for the Sheridan Transportation Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The tug was then acquired by Bouchard Transportation of Melville, New York. Where she was renamed as the Bouchard Boys.
In 2006, she was acquired by McAllister Towing and Transportation of New York, New York. Where she was renamed as the Barbara McAllister.
Powered by two EMD 16-645-E2 main engines with two Falk reduction gears at a ratio of 4.48:1 turning two 115(in) by 90(in) propellers for a rated 4,000 horsepower.
She is equipped with an INTERcon single drum 200 towing machine, outfitted with 2,000(ft) of 2(in) towing wire.
