Built in 1967, by Main Iron Works Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #177) as the Joyce P. Crosby for Crosby Marine Transportation Company of Golden Meadow, Louisiana.

The tug was later acquired by acquired by Huey L. Cheramie Incorporated of New Orleans, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Gloria G. Cheramie.

She was eventually acquired by the Great Lakes Dock and Materials Company of Muskegon, Michigan. Where the tug was renamed as the Fischer Hayden.

Powered by two, Cummins NT 855 diesel engines. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 1,160 horsepower.
