RACHEL

Built in 1969, by Main Iron Works Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #219) as the Apollo for the the Sabine Transportation Company of Port Arthur, Texas.

In 1986, she was acquired by the Guidry Brothers Towing Company of Galliano, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Rachel.

In 1993, the tug was acquired by the Sabine Transportation Company of Port Arthur, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Apollo.

In 1998, she was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2000, the tug was rebuilt by by Bludworth Bond Shipyard of Houston, Texas. She is powered by two, Cummins KTA19-M3 diesel engines. The tug is a twin screw, towboat. Rated at 1,200 horsepower.
