Built in 1982, by the Marine Power and Equipment Company of Seattle, Washington (hull #353) as the Marine Pioneer for the Marine Logistics Corporation of Seattle, Washington. An affiliate of the Marine Power and Equipment Company of Seattle, Washington.

In 1985, the tug was acquired the Cook Inlet Tug and Barge Company of Anchorage, Alaska. A division of the Anderson Tug and Barge Company of Anchorage, Alaska. Where she retained her name.

In 1991, the Cook Inlet Tug and Barge Company renamed the tug as the Kari A.

In 2006, she was acquired by the Tradewinds Towing Company of St. Augustine, Florida. Where the tug was renamed as the Miss Lis.

In 2007, the Tradewinds Towing company re powered the tug with two, Mitsubishi S12R-MPTA diesel engines. With Reintjes WAF-562 reduction gears, at a ratio of 4.5:1. Turning two, Bird-Johnson 62.75(in) by 77(in), stainless steel, propellers mounted in kort nozzles, with a Nautican triple bladed rudder system. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 2,800 horsepower.

The tug's capacities are 40,000 gallons fuel, 870 gallons of lube oil, 870 gallons of lube oil, 870 gallons of hydraulic oil, 1,750 gallons of waste water, and 5,200 gallons of potable water.

In 2012, the tug was outfitted with upper wheelhouse. Her towing gear consists of a National single drum, towing winch outfitted with 2,200(ft) of 1.75(in)(44mm) towing wire. With pneumatic Norman Pins, and stern roller. As well as, a bow winch for barge handling.
