TATE McALLISTER

Built in 2014, by Washburn and Doughty Associates of East Boothbay, Maine (hull #110) as the Tate McAllister for McAllister Towing and Transportation of New York, New York.

Named for the actor Tate Donovan, who is a fifth generation McAllister family member. Son to Eileen McAllister-Donovan and John Donovan. Nephew of Captain Brian McAllister, and cousin to McAllister President Buckley McAllister, and CFO Eric McAllister.

She was the first tractor tug built for McAllister Towing and Transportation by Washburn and Doughty Associates. And, was the thirtieth tractor tug to enter service for the McAllister Towing and Transportation Company.

Designed "in house" by Washburn and Doughty. The design was based upon the yard's previous 92(ft) by 32(ft) designs. Of which there have been over twenty two tugs constructed. The increased length and beam of the new design allow for increased horsepower, while maintaining the maneuvering characteristics and handling capabilities.

Powered by two, Tier III compliant, EMD 12-710 diesel engines. She was the third Tier III complaint tug in McAllister Towing's fleet. With Lufkin gearboxes, at a ratio of 9:1. Driving two, Schottel 1515 z-drives. Outfitted with two, 102(in) diameter, stainless steel, propellers for a rated 6,000 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, Tier III complaint, 99kW generators. With manual paralleling. Driven by two, John Deere 4045 AFM85 diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 35,000 gallons of fuel, 1,000 gallons of lube oil, and 4,000 gallons of fresh water.

Her deck equipment consists of a single drum, JonRie 250, 200 horsepower hawser winch mounted on the bow. Outfitted with 400(ft) of 8(in) Samson Saturn 12 hawser. And, a single drum JonRie 250, 200 horsepower hawser winch mounted on the stern.

The tug's fire fighting capabilities consist of two ,deck mounted FFS Monitors. With Foam Injection. Driven by a Caterpillar C18 fire pump, rated at 3,000 Gallons Per Minute. As well as carrying 500 gallons of AFF foam.
