Built in 2014, by SENESCO Marine of North Kingstown, Rhode Island (hull #300) as the Buckley McAllister for McAllister Towing and Transportation of New York, New York.
Named for fifth generation family member, as well as McAllister Towing's President and CEO, Buckley McAllister. She was the ninth tug designed by Jensen Maritime Consultants of Seattle, Washington for the McAllister Towing and Transportation Company. And, was first tractor tug constructed by SENESCO Marine for McAllister Towing.
The Buckley McAllister was also the twenty-ninth tractor tug to enter service for McAllister Towing and Transportation.
Powered by two, Tier III compliant, Caterpillar 3516CHD diesel engines. She was the first Tier III compliant tug in McAllister Towing's fleet. With Lufkin gearboxes, turning two, Schottel SRP1215 z-drives for a rated 5,150 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two 99kW generator sets. Driven by two, John Deere diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 30,000 gallons of fuel, 6,150 gallons of potable water, and 14,314 gallons of fresh water ballast.
The tug's towing equipment consists of a a JonRie 250 single drum escort winch with full render/recover on the bow, outfitted with 450(ft) of Saturn 12 hawser, with 100(ft) of Saturn 12 backer line. And, a JonRie 512 hydraulic, single drum towing winch outfitted with 2,100(ft) of 2.25(in) wire mounted on the stern. As well as two 12(in) Nabrico roller buttons on the tug's quarters, as well as a Smith Berger hydraulic towing pin system on the stern.
Her firefighting equipment consists of two 1,200(lb) dual flow FFS fire monitors with electric gear motors. Fed by a 1,500 gallon AFFF tank with foam proportioner, tied to the monitors via stainless steel piping. Driven by a Tier III compliant Caterpillar C32 diesel engine rated at 1,300 horsepower. Turning at 1,800RPMs rated for 11,967 gallons per minute.
