Built in 2007, by C and G Boatworks Incorporated of Mobile, Alabama (hull #100) as the Lisa Moran for the Moran Towing Corporation of New Canaan, Connecticut.

In 2013, the tug was chartered to the Norfolk Tug Company of Norfolk, Virgina. Where she was renamed as the James William.

In 2014, she was acquired by the Norfolk Tug Company. Where she retained her name.

Originally powered by three, Cummins KTA38 MO diesel engines. With ZF W3310 reduction gears, at a ratio of 5:1. She was re powered with three, Tier III compliant, Cummins QSK19 diesel engines. With With ZF W3310 reduction gears, at a ratio of 5:1. Turning three, 79(in) by 76(in), four bladed, stainless steel propellers. She is a triple screw towboat rated at 2,800 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 60kW, John Deere 4045TFM generator sets. The tug's capacities are 33,000 gallons of fuel, 165 gallons of lube oil, and 9,500 gallons of water.

Her towing gear consists of a single drum, Markey TYS-24 towing winch. And two, 65 ton, Nabrico deck winches.
